Student Action and Prevention Council 2024-2025

The Stepping Stone Student Action and Prevention Council is a Youth Council focused on child abuse and sexual assault prevention and education in upper schools within Laurens County. The purpose of this council is to educate and empower a select group of young scholars to make changes in their communities and schools, educate their peers, and promote bystander intervention and public health via a peer-to-peer learning model.

The Stepping Stone SAPC will meet monthly during the academic year to learn from special guests and speakers, grow in their knowledge about child abuse, human trafficking, consent, internet safety, mental health support, and jobs related to abuse prevention, i.e. Law Enforcement, Social Work, Victim Advocacy, Prosecution, Nursing, etc. From that strategic learning and engagement, the students will work together on a project that addresses one of these topics. These projects are meant to be educational and for schools within the district. At the end of the academic year, the SAPC will present to key stakeholders their project, its impact, and how they accomplished their education and prevention goals. Outstanding students who exceeded expectations as a part of SAPC will be awarded academic scholarships in support of their achievement.
